Life Lesson #2
– I was born to be an entrepreneur!
Since the time I was 15 years old, I have never been able to hold a job for longer than 4 months, until I created my own company
It seems like every time I got a job, in no time I was either bored out of my mind, fed up with management/coworkers, or trying to reinvent the wheel. I couldn’t manage to stay still and follow the rules for an extended period of time without getting frustrated!
Then one day, I went to an end-of-season party for my beach volleyball team, where the bar asked is to write our name and email on a piece of paper if we wanted to enter to win a free party you from the bar… What do you know, I was one of the winners
I invited all of my volleyball friends, since I won it from a party with them, and one of them invited their Meetup.com
group too. The bar normally had groups come in between 8 and 12 people who had one parties, but my group ended up being 140 individuals.
From there, some of my friends won parties and asked me if I would organize them, which of course I said yes to. One party led to another, and before I knew it I was starting to contact other club owners where I would host singles events.
Singles events led to business networking events, which led to mixers, game nights and girls nights out.
Before I knew what was happening I was running my own company
without ever really attempting to start one… But this was the easy part!
As the years went on and time progressed, competition and my lack of marketing started to overthrow my business.
Now is when the real work had begun.
I wasn’t prepared for how much work it was going to be because of how easy it was to get started, but none the less I powered through it and now I’ve been running events for over 10 years.
That wasn’t enough for me though. I had begun to embrace my entrepreneurial spirit
and realize that I needed to do more with my life than just run parties.
So the next step for me was to start coaching people
in the field of business networking; not because it was my favorite subject, but because I knew so much about it and it was just common sense for me, as I had grown up in a small town where connecting with people was just part of everyday life.
I participated in a few different conferences where my coaching made top sales every time
, but I was still holding back from really believing in myself and trying to get my own clients outside of these conferences… Until this year!
Now, in present day, I have finally taken a giant leap of faith
and put my money where my mouth is. I’ve invested in myself by hiring a business coach whom I connect with on multiple levels, and respect greatly.
The other big change for me right now, is that I’ve completely changed the subject matter of my coaching.
I spent weeks really looking inward, paying attention to what my interests are and what I truly feel passionate about, until finally I came up with something that I connect with on a deeper level; which ironically also connects to my post secondary education.
What am I doing now you might ask?
Well if you haven’t taken a moment to look over the rest of my website yet, then I’ll fill you in. I’ve now decided to focus my business coaching around trauma.
How did I come to this decision?
Well, I decided to write out all of the defining moments in my life. I quickly realized that 90% of them were trauma-related! The funny thing though, is that I no longer feel like a victim in my life. Now when I look at these experiences, they’re just moments from my past instead of feelings that I’m still having in the present. This combined with my educational background, my personal interest in trauma, and the power of overcoming my own diversities, has led me to my new chosen purpose!
You see, I believe that:
Anyone can overcome their past trauma, and move forward, to continue to create their kick-ass company.Sarah Robinson, Creating Connextions
I also feel that:
No one needs to let the fear of their trauma, stop them from becoming the powerful businessmen and women that they are truly meant to be; as people who overcome adversity often have the most to contribute to the world.Sarah Robinson, Creating Connextions
So now with passion, purpose, and drive fueling me; I finally believe in the power of The Law Of Attraction
Within days of me deciding on my new chosen topic, I had people connect with me that I hadn’t spoken to in years or that I had never even heard of. It’s truly amazing what happens when your mind aligns with your spirit, your emotions, and your heart; and you take a step forward into the life that you were truly meant to live!
